Photograph Notes: Located between Cranmore and Cranmore West stations on the heritage East Somerset Railway (ESR). The locomotive was built in 1937 as number 2047 by Andrew Barclay & Sons, Kilmarnock. It was built for the South of Scotland Electricity Company and was used at Yoker power station near Glasgow, where it spent its entire working life. After being withdrawn from service, it eventually came to the ESR in the early 1990s. A number of similar locomotives had been used by the Swansea Harbour Trust, and so taken into Great Western Railway (GWR) ownership in 1923. Some survived into British Railways ownership. Therefore, this locomotive was given a fictitious GWR guise and numbered 705, the next vacant number in the series used by the GWR for this type of locomotive. The steam crane is out of use, awaiting boiler repairs and extensive renovation.
