Photograph Notes: Sets of stone sleeper blocks remain from the line which opened here in 1846. It initially ran from Moorswater, near Liskeard, at the head of the Liskeard and Looe Canal to South Caradon, and that section of line opened in 1844. The extension to the quarries at Cheeswring opened in 1846. In the 1870s this route was bypassed to the east of Caradon Hill, obviating the need to use the Gonamena incline, to the south of this location
